This Day in History: Happy Birthday, Earl

Earl Campbell was born on March 29, 1955 in Tyler, Texas. Campbell played as a collegiate running back for the Texas Longhorns at the University of Texas and went on to win the Heisman Trophy in 1977. Campbell was the first draft pick overall in the 1978 NFL draft by the Houston Oilers, and in that year he was named NFL's Most Valuable Player, All-Pro and Rookie of the Year.

Campbell is often referred to as one of the best power backs in NFL history. He played for the Houston Oilers for the majority of his professional football career from 1978-1984. In 1984, he was traded to the New Orleans Saints where he played for just a season and a half before retiring. By the end of his career, Campbell had accumulated 9,407 yards rushing, 806 yards receiving, 74 total touchdowns, and 10,213 yards. On July 27, 1991, Campbell was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lil Wayne Knows Headwear

There was a Lil Wayne concert in the City of Brotherly Love this past Saturday night.  We are happy to report that Wayne not only represented the local football team, he also represented the local apparel company by wearing one of our hats.

The man knows how to win over the hometown fans.
