It's February 14th. Let's talk about love and chocolate. Lovetron and Chocolate Thunder to be exact. To quote Darryl Dawkins, the four essential elements on his imaginary planet Lovetron are "love, love, love and more love. That's it!"   Well, we all love his dunks, right?  Dawkins was known for his powerful dunks which led to the NBA adopting breakaway rims due to him shattering backboards on two occasions in 1979.

Check out Darryl Dawkins' top 20 dunks in the video below. Broken glass everywhere!!

We Remember Houston All Star, Circa 1989

As you probably know the NBA All Star Game is in Houston this year.  Houston hosted the All Star Game in 2006, and before that, in 1989.  Since 2006 is like yesterday around here, we decided to commemorate the '89 game with a cool collection of a crew, tee and hats.   Before we get to that, let's remember the 1989 game.  It was held on February 12 and it was the first time that Houston hosted the stars of the NBA.  The West squad was coached by Pat Riley while the East had Lenny Wilkens calling the shots.  Starters for the West: John Stockton, Alex English, Karl Malone, Dale Ellis, Hakeem Olajuwon.  Starters for the East: Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, Charles Barkely, Moses Malone and Dominique Wilkins.  The West dominated the first half and headed to the locker room up 87 - 59.  The East squad dominated after the break and made it a game by scoring 75 second half points to the West's 56 points.  Final score - West 143 - East 134.  The MVP was Karl Malone who finished with 28 points and 9 rebounds.

Now on to the gear.  Take a look below and check out the great stuff we've made to recognize and remember this game and these uniforms.

All this good stuff is now available at the Mitchell & Ness flagship store and will be on our site in the next couple of days.  In Houston, you can get it at City Gear.
