The spotlights were fixated on Los Angeles last night for the 83^rd Annual Academy Awards. As we watched Christian Bale and Melissa Leo win the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards for “The Fighter” last night, it made us think of our favorite sports movies. The 82^nd Annual Academy Awards are this Sunday, March 7, 2010. The nominees this year for Best Picture are Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man, Up, and Up in the Air.

We couldn’t think of a better time of the year to look back at some memorable sports movies that have played such an important and inspirational role in our culture through the years.
