Spring Cleaning Special

We were doing a little spring cleaning around the office today and we came across a perfectly good Expos Andre Dawson sample.  It's production quality, it was just sent to us so we could approve the patch.

So, do you want it?  If yes, post a comment on our facebook page today between 3:00 PM EST - 5:00 PM EST telling us why we should give this jersey to you.  Keep your comments to 50 words or less.  It's a size large and it's the only one we have so what you see is what you get.

We'll pick our favorite between 5:00 - 5:15 and we'll post the winner's name around 5:30. Good luck!

Happy Birthday Andre Dawson

Andre Dawson was born on July 10, 1954 in Miami, Florida.  "The Hawk" broke in to the majors with the Montreal Expos in 1976, where he spent 11 of his 21 years of professional baseball.  In 1977 he was awarded the National League Rookie of the Year Award beating out the Steve Henderson of the Mets.   Playing primarily centerfield, Dawson earned the first of his eight Golden Glove Awards in 1980.

After the 1986 season Andre felt that 11 years of playing on the articficial turf at Olympic Stadium had done some serious damage to his knees.  So, he departed Canada for the plush greens of Wrigley Field.  His first year in Chicago was a success as he was named 1987 Most Valuable Player.  He stayed with the Cubs for 6 seasons before closing out his career with two years in Boston and two in Florida with the Marlins.

Dawson never played on a World Series team, but did receive a World Series ring as a front office member of the 2003 Champion Florida Marlins.

We are happy to be making "The Hawk's" 1982 road Expos jersey.  Look for it in the fall.
