Three years ago today, the NBA lost an amazing coach. Chuck Daly led the Detroit Pistons to consecutive NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. In addition, Daly led the Dream Team to the Olympic gold medal in 1992. "Chuck was a great leader," Michael Jordan said. "I wish I could have played for him outside of the Dream Team."
Daly coached a total of 14 NBA seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic. This Hall of Fame coach compiled a 564-379 career record, 13th best among all coaches an ninth best by percentage. NBA commissioner David Stern said, "Chuck did more than coach basketball games. He positively impacted everyone he met, both personally and professionally, and his love of people and the game of basketball helped develop the next generation of coaches."
Below are some video highlights of Daly at work.
