Stanley Cup Champions

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings for winning the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup! The Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in their Cup clinching victory last night (the series finished 4-2). In route to the franchise's first Stanley Cup, the Kings went 16-4 for the playoffs and only lost 1 road game. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick won the Conn Smythe Trophy for the playoff MVP, and Captain Dustin Brown became only the 2nd American born Captain to hoist the Stanley Cup. Congrats again to the L.A. Kings!

This Just In

It's a 1992 - 93 Los Angeles Kings Wayne Gretzky jersey.

This was the year that the Kings made it to their first Stanley Cup Finals where they lost to the Canadiens 4 - 1.  But this season will be remembered by Kings fans for the amazing Campbell Conference Finals where the Kings ousted the heavily favored Maple Leafs 4 - 3.  The Kings were facing elimination in game six and were down by two goals in the third period.  In a remarkable comeback they tied the game 4 - 4 at the end of regulation.  In OT Gretzky got the game winner and it was on to game seven.  In the final game Gretzky came through again with a hat trick and an assist, leading his team to their first
Stanley Cup Finals.

The patch on this jersey was worn by all teams for the entire 1992 - 93 season to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup.

We hope you like it as much as we liked recreating it.

Happy Anniversary L.A.

Today marks the 44th anniversary of the Los Angeles Kings’ first game. Before the 1967-1968 NHL season started, the league decided it was time for expansion. Six franchises were awarded before the season, the California Seals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings. On October 14th, 1967, the Kings opened up their inaugural season at Long Beach Arena with a game against another expansion team, the Philadelphia Flyers. In front of their home crowd, the Kings went on to beat the Flyers 4-2. The Kings would finish their first season in 2nd place in the West Division, but wouldn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs.

Ironically enough, the Los Angeles Kings, and former Flyer Captain Mike Richards, are facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow night. But unlike 44 years ago, this game will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia. The undefeated Flyers look to give Philly sports fans a much needed morale boost tomorrow night, but history may stand with the Kings…
