"The reason I love baseball so much is because when I come into a game in the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, no one out, and a one-run lead; it takes people off my mind." - Tug McGraw
Frank Edwin McGraw, Jr. was born Wednesday, August 30, 1944 in Martinez, California. At 20 years of age he made his major league debut on April 18, 1965. Drafted by the New York Mets, he would go one to play for them for the next nine years of his career. Then in 1975 he went to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. Playing the last ten years of his career in Philadelphia, he remembered most for his game winning pitch in the 1980 World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

The 1969 New York Mets won 100 games out the 162 they played in the regular season. This marked the first year that they would have 100 wins or more in a single season. Finishing first in their division, they moved on to defeat Atlanta in the National League Championship Series, winning their first ever National League Pennant. They then went on to clinch their first ever World Series Championship defeating the Baltimore Orioles.

To start off Mets week we thought we'd highlight 1986 and what better way to do it then with the Lets Go Mets music video. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
1986 was a big year for the Mets ball club. Under manager Davey johnson they won 108 games. In the post season they first defeat the Houston Astros to move on to the World Series. Although it was not an easy task they wound up clinching the title in Game 7 to win the franchise's second World Championship.
