Happy Birthday to "The Bus"

On this date back in 1972, Jerome Bettis was born in Detroit, Michigan. “The Bus” currently stands fifth on the NFL all-time leading rusher list. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Jerome Bettis was drafted in the first round (10th overall) of the 1993 draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

In Bettis’ first season in the NFL, he rushed for over 1,400 yards and earned himself the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Over his 12 career seasons, Bettis would accumulate 13,662 rushing yards, 94 touchdowns, 3 All Pro awards, 6 Pro Bowl selections, the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, and oh yeah, a Super Bowl XL Championship ring. Few players have been able to combine the speed, foot work and sheer power of Jerome Bettis, and it is because of this that he is considered one of the all-time great running backs of the NFL.

Look for Mitchell & Ness to honor Jerome Bettis, and his amazing career, in the only way we know how later on this year….

Happy Birthday Mr. Bettis, "BUS"

Thank you for being a Steeler and carrying the Steelers Nation with you. I felt I could always count on you when the Steelers were down and needed a big play. Thanks for sticking around for another season, Super Bowl 40 would not have been the same if you were not playing. I only hope and pray the Lord will keep you and your family healthy, happy and loving life. I looking forward to your jersey on Mitchell and Ness(hope it's the old throwback jersey) I live in California and been a Steelers fan for 40 years and I still bless the day the Rams let you go. A big THANK YOU for carrying the Steelers Nation on your BUS everytime you ran with the ball. I have never seen a Steelers game in Pittsburgh, but always felt at home when watching you and Steelers play. My son Cory wanted me to say Happy Birthday to you. He a Steelers fan from birth, 17 years and going strong.
