On June 9, 1985, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics to win their ninth NBA championship. Led by playoff MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Lakers won the series 4 - 2, taking the decisive sixth game at Boston Garden. It was the first time in Garden history that the guys in green had to watch an opposing team celebrate a championship on their home floor.
