On December 21, 1941 the Chicago Bears and New York Giants played in the NFL Championship Game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The game was played two weeks after the attacks on Pearl Harbor, in front of just 13, 341 fans. Two of the game's participants, Young Bossey (Bears) and Jack Lummus (Giants) were eventually killed in World War II.
The game was close in the first half, with a halftime score of 9 - 6 Bears. Chicago came out strong in the second half scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter and two more in the fourth for a final score of 37 - 9.
