On December 24, 1950, the Cleveland Browns faced the Los Angeles Rams in the 18th Annual NFL Championship Game. Played at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium in front of 29,751 fans, the game was a hard fought back and forth battle. The Rams kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with QB Bob Waterfield throwing a 82 yard touchdown pass to Glenn Davis. Cleveland came back with a 31 yard pass from Otto Graham to Dub Jones to tie the game. Rams FB Dick Hoerner finsihed off the first quarter scoring with a 3 yard td run. The only points scored in the second quarter came on a 37 yard Graham to Dante Lavelli td strike and the game went to the half with a 14 - 13 score.
Lavelli and Graham hooked up again in the third quarter giving the Browns a 20 - 14 lead. The game continued it's back and forth scoring into the final quarter with the Rams holding a 28 - 27 lead as the Browns mounted their final scoring drive. As the clock wound down to the final seconds, Browns kicker Lou Groza kicked a 16 yard field goal to win the game. Final score, Browns 30 Rams 28.
