Having grown up in the 80's & 90's watching Sir Charles Barkley followed by the dark years  of poor 76ers teams lead by Jeff Hornaceck.  My vote is for Allen Iverson.

When AI got here it was like opening a brand new toy on Christmas Morning . The excitement , thrill and hope of what was to come was intense  . Who can forget A.I.  crossing up Michael Jordan  his rookie year.  A.I.  got the entire city excited and made a lot of people into 76ers fans.  He energized the city of Philadelphia and embodied everything this city is about;  hustle, pride and determination in the face of insurmountable odd’s .

I am basing this purely on what Allen Iverson did on the court  and not for his much maligned “off the court” antics, which there were plenty of to skew people’s perception.  In my life time I have never seen a  athlete  enter Philly and become so embraced by the fan base in such a short period of time, T.O. was close but very short lived.  Some of my best sports memories are form that run A.I.  and the 76ers made back in the 2001  season where they lost to the Lakers in the Finals.
