Who's In, Who's Out?

Baseball's Expansion Era Committee has announced the 12 candidates that they will consider for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in July, 2011.  The expansion era covers 1973 -  present.  The results will be announced during the winter meetings on December 6. 

We know we'll be discussing this all day today so we want to hear from you.  Who do you think is in and who's out?

Players

Vida Blue - 17 seasons with the A's, Royals and Giants.  1971 AL MVP and Cy Young winner.


Dave Concepcion - 19 season with the Reds.  Five time Gold Glove winner and nine time All Star.


Steve Garvey - 19 seasons with the Dodgers and Padres.  1978 and 1984 NLCS MVP and four time Gold Glove winner.

 

Ron Guidry - 14 seasons with the Yankees.  1978 Cy Young winner.


Tommy John - 26 seasons with the Indians, Dodgers, Yankees, Angels and A's. Lifetime record of 288 - 231.  Eighth all time in career starts.

Al Oliver - 18 seasons with the Pirates, Rangers, Expos, Giants, Phillies, Dodgers and Blue Jays..303 career average with 10 seasons hitting at .300 or above.


Ted Simmons - 21 seasons with Cardinals, Brewers and Braves. Eight time All Star.

 

Rusty Staub - 23 seasons with Colt .45s/Astros, Expos, Mets, Tigers, and Rangers.  Six time All star.

 

Managers

Billy Martin - 16 seasons managing the Twins, Tigers, Rangers, Yankees and A's.  Lifetime record of 1,253 - 1015 with one World Series title and two AL Pennants.

Executives

Pat Gillick - 27 years as General Manager of the Blue Jays, Orioles, Mariners and Phillies.  Three World Series titles.

 

George Steinbrenner - Principal Owner of the Yankees from 1973 - 2010.  During that time the Yankees won seven World Series titles and eleven AL Pennants.

Marvin Miller - named the head of MLBPA in 1966.  During his tenure he secured player free agency and by the time of his retirement in 1982, players salaries had increased approximately 10 times over what they were when he began.
